Tips for great holiday skin!
With Thanksgiving behind us, we are quickly approaching the holiday season! There is several skin and body care tips that can help keep you looking your best, while at the same time, keeping your skin healthy and young. Whether you are skiing with your family or on the beach enjoying the sunshine, do not forget that the strongest sun exposure occurs between the hours of 12 noon and 4 pm. These are the times you should minimize your sun exposure. During the winter holiday season, especially in colder climates, our skin gets drier. So it's important to stay away from hot showers which dry the skin and to be sure to apply generous amounts of moisturizer (Like Image Daily Defense Universal Moisturizer with SPF 30) to your face while your skin is still damp. To make your skin look fresher, consider our Organic Passion Peptide Peel. It's easy, virtually painless, and have little to no downtime. But remember; you should do such treatments at least two weeks before a big event or celebration.

Eliminate ultra-dry skin.
Even beautifully applied makeup will look unattractive if it's put on over dry, flaking skin. Dry skin is common during the winter months, and acne treatment products can exacerbate the problem. To ward off dryness, keep your skin soft, and supple, use any Image Vital C products. The Vital C product line is ideal for those experiencing damaged or dry skin due to harsh environmental factors, smoking, stress or fatigue. A rich blend of natural botanicals creates a soothing and healthy way to improve skin care.

All About Waxing
Waxing is the longest-lasting temporary hair removal technique available. When wax is warm, it enters the follicle, allowing the hair to be pulled out from the root. Hair grows back in 3 to 6 weeks. The disadvantage to waxing is that it can be painful for those with sensitive skin. And hair must grow back by 1cm before waxing again (this takes up to six weeks).
The best antidote to the pain of waxing is to try to relax. According to many beauty practitioners, when a client is tense, the follicle closes and the wax doesn't reach the root of the hair. Immediately after waxing, apply gentle pressure to the area with your hands; icing the area also can help ease the pain. The more often you get a wax treatment, the more accustomed you'll grow to the experience.
How Waxing Changes Your Hair
Waxing really does make your hair grow lighter over time. Because the wax gets into the hair follicle and pulls the hair from the root, it grows back less thick than when the shaft is shaved.
Organic Wax
If your skin is sensitive or if you are prone to breakouts or allergic reactions, all-natural wax (Like Eden's Bliss Pine Green with Aloe Wax) can help reduce skin irritation and unsightly red bumps and itching. Wax containing aloe (usually tinted blue) also helps head off discomfort.

Fun Facts About Your Body
Muscles
- It is difficult to discern exactly how many muscles are in the human face, because many are extremely small and they often overlap. Most estimates range from 40 to 90.
Expressions
- The human face can create 5,000 expressions. People can read even the slightest nuances and changes in facial expression and their attitudes and responses are affected by those subtle changes.
Reading Faces
- Human beings are designed to interpret and understand facial expressions at lightning speed, at large distances and with great accuracy. You can distinguish a friend and whether they are surprised or happy to see you from 150 feet away within a fraction of a second.
The Power of the Smile
- A person can recognize a smile from 300 feet away. Smiling is the most easily recognizable facial expression that we have, and is seen in every culture worldwide. Smiling reduces stress, can lower blood pressure and even makes us appear younger and more attractive. Smiling releases endorphins and signals to our body that all is well.
The Truth is in Your Face
- You cannot control all the muscles in your face. The truth is always there in some form. Trying to control the muscles in your face results in mixed signals, which leads to others being unsure about your intentions. Even the best liars will give themselves away eventually. Changing how you feel inside will change your expression on the outside.
In one day, a human sheds 10 billion skin flakes. This amounts to approximately two kilograms in a year.
Every square inch of the human body has about 19,000,000 skin cells.
Forty-one percent of women apply body and hand moisturizer at least three times a day.
Studies have shown that the scent of Rosemary can help in better mental performance and make individuals feel more alert.
People with darker skin will not wrinkle as fast as people with lighter skin.
So remember to keep smiling all week long. Happy Halloween!

Exfoliation
Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin's outermost surface, and has been used for many years to help maintain skin.
It's easy to bypass one of the most important steps of post-wax care – exfoliation. It does take time, it does require a couple of "tools", but it's SO worth it! Not only will you have extra silky skin but you'll also stave off those pesky little bumps known as ingrown hairs.
Clients ask me "Why should I exfoliate my skin between my waxing services?" Because exfoliation of the skin is one of the key steps to avoiding ingrown hairs. Exfoliation is needed to remove the dead skin cells, dirt, and clogging oils off the surface of your skin. This will allow the new hairs to grow out easily without curling back into the skin. Plus, preventing ingrown hairs aside, exfoliation can speed up your skin cell turnover promoting glowing skin AND can increase circulation.
If you have any questions about exfoliation, post-wax care, or anything to do with waxing please do not hesitate to contact us at andrea@edensbliss.com or 713-397-9643.
